2022-2023 Swimming Season
Head Instructor: TBD
The Immaculate Conception Youth Ministry Committee is happy to inform families that we are planning to offer an instructional swim program for children ages 6-17.
The Swim Club will not be a competitive team. IMMAC will focus on the acquisition of strokes, endurance and swimming as a lifetime sport. IMMAC Swimming is open to children ages 6-17 and beginners through advanced levels are welcome.
Immac Swimming is planning to use the Variety Boys and Girls Club (VBGC) facilities, located at 21-12 30th Road, Astoria, New York (718) 728-0946.
Class time will be assigned by instructors and determined by numbers and available instructors.
-Swim caps, one-piece swimsuits for the young ladies; and lined swim trunks for gentlemen; goggles, towel, pool shoes (flip-flops etc.) and locks for the locker are required. Immaculate Conception Catholic Academy or Parish, Variety Boys Girl Coaches, volunteers, staff, employees are NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR VALUABLES LOST.
1. Complete the Permission/Waiver Forms – Packet contains the permission slip and waiver, parent telephone, email address. Swimmers must have a parent/guardian sign permission slip and waiver and return these with payment check or money order payable to “Immaculate Conception Church”; note swimming on the subject line. Please read the skills required for various levels. Parents can expedite the placement process by not overestimating the child’s ability and using criteria described in the packet.
2022-2023 Swim Club Parent Guardian Permission Slip and Waiver will be updated and made available in the Fall of 2022.
2. Join the VBGD – Part II of Registration will be done online, and swimmers must register and join the Variety Boys and Girls Club. There is a VBGC membership fee. You will be directed on how to register by the VBGC. Note: Swimmers MUST have a physical/ completed medical approval form on file with the club in order to swim at the Variety Boys and Girls Club. Download the medical forms at VBGC website or get them from your doctor.
Students will be dismissed from the pool and parents must make arrangements for their child to be picked up at the conclusion of the lesson. The next class begins immediately; thus once your child exits the pool, parents are responsible for the child’s safety. We do not watch or supervise any IMMAC participants beyond the pool.
