Celebrating a Century of Excellence!
Immaculate Conception Catholic Academy kicked off its Centennial Year with an outdoor assembly of students, parents, teachers, administration, board members, alumni, and special guests. A brief history of the Academy and reading of the Centennial Proclamation issued by Queensborough President Donovan Richards was read by Keri-Ann Wade-Donohue, Assistant Principal. Brother Joseph Rocco and Monsignor Fernando Ferrarese both gave moving opening day speeches. The ribbon was cut by alumni Rosemary Prager (‘42), Jim Am Anderson (Jan ‘51), and Fr. William Farrugia (June “51). The assembly was followed by the “Blessing of the Backpacks” in the school gymnasium. To wrap up the day, the students gathered for ices to celebrate a successful first day of school, while the AP shared all of the ideas that were in the works for students to participate in the Centennial Celebrations. From our humble beginnings to a century of nurturing young minds, we’re proud of our legacy and excited for the future. Here’s to many more years of inspiring, educating, and empowering the youth of our community!
